Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Stop The Past From Being Your Present
When a distressing or traumatic experience overwhelms the brain’s natural ability to process what has happened, the memory can become “stuck.” Instead of being stored as something that occurred in the past, the experience may continue to show up in the present through intense emotions, intrusive thoughts, or physical sensations that feel confusing, disproportionate, or outside of your control.
EMDR is a well-researched therapy designed to help the brain process these memories so they can be stored in a healthier, more adaptive way. Through guided bilateral stimulation and focused attention, EMDR helps reduce the emotional charge connected to difficult memories so they no longer feel as immediate or overwhelming.
As the brain reprocesses the experience, the memory becomes less intense and more integrated into your life story rather than something that continues to trigger distress. Many people find that the thoughts, emotions, and physical reactions that once felt automatic begin to soften, creating more space for calm, clarity, and choice.
Clients often describe feeling lighter, more grounded, and more connected to themselves after EMDR—sometimes in ways they did not realize were possible.
